About Me

MY NAME IS Austin

And I’m addicted to potential. When I look at a dated piece of furniture, a drab room, or a house left untouched for years, I can’t help but imagine how I can help improve it. Over the years, I’ve discovered that art and design are the areas where I can truly express myself. I find myself itching to go to “work” when that work involves holding a paintbrush, finding and redesigning fun vintage pieces, decorating, building things, or transforming a space.

My passion for design started before I can remember. I was creating sample designs of my bedroom’s color schemes at 10, and saving money to buy furniture shortly thereafter. I persuaded my parents to buy a beautiful arched-top china cabinet for our home at age 12, and refinished a desk and chairs at age 16 (which I still have). My home is like a revolving door of vintage furniture, decor, and plants. I believe in the rule of thirds, that symmetry and balance is good for the soul, and that style is personal and essential to one’s happiness.

Saving pieces from the landfill, up-cycling, and thrifting one-of-a-kind vintage pieces tells a much more interesting design story than selecting your entire look from page 9 in the newest Pottery Barn catalog.
